REGISTRATION AND PRE-COURSE INSTRUCTIONS
• All delegates to be registered on the course registration form.
• All delegates to be advised of the following

• Fire procedure
• Toilets and welfare

This module is designed as an enhancement of module 01 and is only carried out when delegates have successfully completed that module.

INTRODUCTION
The course is designed to provide;
• A practical enhancement to module 01 to allow delegates to work safely in the vicinity of unprotected edges, on steep ground or slightly angled rooftops.
• The ability to use basic fall arrest equipment.

COURSE SYLLABUS
Theory

In addition to the theory elements of module 01 the following topics will be emphasized.
• What constitutes an unprotected edge.
• What constitutes steep ground and when do work position techniques become necessary.
• The importance of avoidance of hazards where possible.
• Correct risk assessment when setting up work restraint systems. 

COURSE SYLLABUS
Practical

In addition to the practical elements of module 01 the following topics will be covered and where appropriate additional topics specific to the client will also be covered.
• Correct fitting and adjustment of fall arrest harnesses by all delegates.
• Ladder ascent and descent using inertia blocks.
• Ladder ascent and descent using in-situ permanent Systems (only if available)
• Ladder ascent and descent using temporary systems. 
• The use of fall arrest lanyards.
• The use of horizontal trans-fastener type systems. (only if available)
• The setting up of adjustable restraint systems
• Setting up of Anchors (temporary and permanent)
• The use of horizontal safety lines as a part of a restraint system.
• Rooftop rescue.

COURSE SUMMARY
In addition to the test carried out in module 01 all delegates will be monitored by the trainer throughout the practical sessions. Any concerns will be addressed by delegate and trainer on a continual basis.

TRAINING OUTCOME
• Statement of Attainment of MNMG237A Work Safely at Heights for all delegates when completed with Module 01.
• ID card for all delegates (SpanSet recommends retraining every 3 years).
