03 - Occasional Industrial Climber

REGISTRATION AND PRE-COURSE INSTRUCTIONS
• All delegates to be registered on the course registration form.
• All delegates to be advised of the following

  • Fire procedure
  • Toilets and welfare

This module is designed as an enhancement of modules 01 and is only carried out when delegates have successfully completed that module.

INTRODUCTION
The course is designed to provide;
• A practical enhancement to module 01 to allow delegates to safely access towers and masts utilizing in-situ access systems
• The delegates will also be given a practical knowledge of a SHARK rescue being carried out.

COURSE SYLLABUS
Theory

In addition to the theory elements of module 01 the following topics will be emphasized.
• The use of work positioning in conjunction with fall arrest equipment.
• The use of double lanyards for safety whilst travelling.

COURSE SYLLABUS
Practical

In addition to the practical elements of module 01 the following topics will also be covered.
• Correct fitting and adjustment of fall arrest harnesses by all delegates.
• Ladder ascent and descent using inertia blocks.
• Ladder ascent and descent using in-situ permanent systems (only if available)
• Ladder ascent and descent using temporary systems.
• Climbing structures using twin access fall arrest lanyards.
• The use of work positioning belts.
• A practical demonstration of a SHARK.
• Ladder rescue (2 man option).

COURSE SUMMARY
In addition to the test carried out in module 01 all delegates will be monitored by the trainer throughout the practical sessions. Any concerns will be addressed by delegate and trainer on a continual basis.
