INTRODUCTION
The course structured to provide;
Practical training in the set up of independent
safety lines for workers off swing stages and
the employment of rescue and self rescue
techniques should an emergency situation arise.

COURSE SYLLABUS
Practical
The topics are;
- Correct fitting and
adjustment of fall arrest harnesses by all
delegates.
- Ladder ascent and
descent using inertia blocks.
- Ladder ascent and
descent using in-situ permanent systems (only
if available).
- Ladder ascent and
descent using temporary systems.
- The use of fall
arrest systems.
- Correct rigging of
Anchor straps.
- Correct installation
of horizontal safety lines.
- The safe use of
restraint lines.
- Safe use of
Karabiners.
- The use of a
self-locking descender to abseil.
- The use of a rescue
kit containing a self-locking descender to
access a casualty and evacuate them down to
safety.
- The use of a rescue
kit with raising and lowering capability.
- The set up of
independent vertical lifelines and anchorage
points.
- Self Rescue
Techniques off immobilized swing stages.
- Rescue of suspended
workers off a vertical lifeline.
COURSE SUMMARY
The course consists of both practical and
theoretical sessions with the emphasis being on
practical emergency escape and rescue scenarios
and exercises. Recognition of your competency
will be assessed through the use of formative
questioning and demonstration assessments
together with the theoretical and practical
assessments.
All delegates will be monitored by the trainer
throughout the practical sessions. Any concerns
will be addressed by delegate and trainer on a
continual basis.

on Roofs for all delegates who complete the
course.
- Certificate of
Attendance and a Photographic ID card on Swing
Stage Rescue and Evacuation Operations for all
delegates (SpanSet recommends rescue training
every year).
