Course Description.


This course is ideally suited to operators in the mining, construction, maintenance and service industries who at some stage need to work at height. The course is nationally recognised and delivered by experienced height safety specialists in plain everyday language.The theoretical aspect of the course is delivered via a powerpoint presentation and supported by several video/ DVD examples such as -

Destructive force of a 100kg dummy dropped 4 metres

Comparison drop tests between body belts and various types of harnesses

Simulated pendulum fall causing injury

Mistakes made with an adjustable rope line

Application of a type 1 fall arrester

Application of a type 2 fall arrester


Topics covered  include Legislation and Standards, Fall Physics, Scaffolds, Edge Barriers, Ladders, Tool Strops,
Anchorages, Connectors, Lanyards, Inertia Reels, Rope Lines, Horizontal Safety Lines, Pendulum Hazards, Suspension Trauma, Rescue of a Fallen Worker


A strong emphasis on hands on practical exercises which include -

Setting up an anchorage

Install a horizontal lifeline

Operate an  adjustable rope line

Set up a fall arrest system

Identify faults in  PPE

Be suspended in a harness

Operate and deploy suspension loops

Perform rescue of a fallen worker


Successful completion of both the theoretical and practical exercises will lead to the awarding of a
