2003: SpanSet Release Gotcha Rescue Kits

A revolutionary post fall rescue system which finally addresses the problem of recovering a fallen worker who has been left suspended by the fall arrest system. The unique feature of this system is the fact that the rescuer does not have to leave the structure from which the worker has fallen. The system can be attached remotely by the rescuer and the patient can either be lifted or lowered with a fail safe hauling/lowering configuration. This type of contingency is a must for any risk assessment and should be considered as an integral part of any fall arrest system.

A Different Way Of Launching A Ship !

The shopping centre CentrO, Neue Mitte Oberhausen, had a special attraction on its opening day: in a spectacular action, we had to place the original rebuild of a pirate ship into the leisure park's lagoon.
In co-operation with the experts at SpanSet and factory representatives from Evers GmBH, we developed a lifting system consisting of special lifting beams, roundslings, Powerflex coated lifting slings and Secutex protective sleeves.
As the ship was supposed to be transported by a helicopter, the carrying construction had to be as light as possible yet able to lift the 18 tonne ship. The final weight for the whole rigging assembly was an incredibly low 390kg. We used  SpanSet PowerPlus lifting slings with a carrying capacity of 5,000 kg each. The one layer lifting slings had an especially wide webbing and therefore guaranteed an ideal surface pressure.
In order to prevent damaging the lifting slings or the ship sides, the slings were bonded with the flexible Powerflex coating.
The original plan to transport the ship with the helicopter had to be abandoned due to the potentially destructive down-draught the rotor blades caused. The ship was therefore transported by launching it from one crane to another, while remaining fully suspended, over the streets and canals to its final destination.
